The Sapphire Sisters

Since the late ’90s, The Sapphire Sisters’ Daughters of Our Mothers Festival has provided an annual opportunity for female-identifying musicians to find strength in harmony and sisterhood in song. And the coming together of this sacred community of esoteric folk musicians may never have been so important as it is this year. Just read the news, you guys. Now is a time for us to be marching, joining hands, setting cop cars on fire, and above all lifting our voices to sing. Because whether you’re a son, a daughter, a sister, a grandmother, or a father – we’re all daughters of our mothers.

This year’s line-up includes headliners The Sapphire Sisters, with special guests January Schonfeld and more!

Hey, you seem like you could use some music and entertainment this weekend, and maybe just being in the company of some cool people. Consider the latest installment of SUNSETS AT GREAT SCOTT, on Sunday, November 20th, at 4pm. The line-up includes the Story Pirates, The Silver Lake Chorus, touring Nashville twosome Pilgrim, singer-songwriter Jesse Macht (your host), and our personal favorites…

THE SAPPHIRE SISTERS, Lost Moon Radio’s own beloved female folk duo (in a performance featuring Martha Marion, Jen Burton, Michael Wells, Dylan Ris, and Lauren Flans), who promise to surround your troubled heart in waves of pulsing harmony and sisterhood.

It’s all happening in a beautiful backyard-with-a-view in Echo Park, and it’s all FREE (thanks to a sponsorship from Airstream). There’s even free valet, or you can get 20% off a Lyft ride to and/or from the show with the code SSAGS. Warm clothes, picnic blankets, and beach chairs are encouraged.

Doesn’t that sound like a pretty great way to round out your weekend? More details here.

If you love mid-’90s, female singer-songwriters, UCB has a show for you. On Friday, September 16th, you’re invited to the Lilith Fair 20 Year Reunion Show, a celebratory musical tribute to the defining Amero-Canadian feminist touring festival of the last century.

In addition to being hosted by Sarah McLachlan and Ani DiFranco (Kait Thompson and Kat Palardy) and featuring appearances by many other returning Lilith Fair stars, the night’s entertainment will also feature three Lost Moon Radio favorites: January Schonfeld (Leslie Korein) from Million Dollar Hair and our ever-popular folk rock duo the Sapphire Sisters (Jen Burton and Martha Marion), who will be headlining.

Big news! (If you are a Lost Moon fan and enjoy the medium of television.) TruTV has just announced the debut of a new half-hour series, Rachel Dratch’s Late Night Snack, presenting “a carousel of premium comedy segments curated by and premiering on TruTV.”

These segments include limo-based relationship advice from Alec Baldwin, a long-awaited star vehicle for Benjamin the Cat, and “Passive Aggressive History,” a painstakingly researched* series of docudramas chronicling every eye roll, backhanded compliment, and clench-toothed smile behind the iconic events that shaped our world — written by and starring the cast of Lost Moon Radio.

That’s us, you guys! We’re going to be on this show! On television! Adjacent to but not actually interacting with Alec Baldwin!

Honestly, we’re as surprised as you are. More details, teaser images, etc. coming soon. Late Night Snack premieres Thursday, March 3rd, at 11 p.m Eastern/Pacific, right after Those Who Can’t. So set your VCR’s and mark your paper calendars or whatever.

*By “painstakingly researched,” we mean 100% made-up.

May your days be merry and bright, and may you steer clear from that creepy uncle who makes everyone uncomfortable. You know the one. This holiday season, sing along with Lost Moon Radio to one of the unforgotten Christmas classics, UNCLE MORT!
