LMR NYC Tour

Lost Moon Radio: Journeys

Lost Moon Radio makes its first NYC appearance with an evening of its award-winning sketches and songs exploring the theme of “Journeys.” Three shows, three chances to see this “hilarious hour of sketch, music and a over arching story that plays throughout” (LAist). The Huffington Post calls Lost Moon Radio “rock and roll comedy that exceeds expectations … silly while avoiding stupid, edgy without being obnoxious and fresh without feeling forced. The ensemble is a seamless display of talents in absolute cohesion.”

Lost Moon Radio: The Solo Show

After the spectacle and pageantry of Million Dollar Hair, we’re stripping things down to the essentials for Lost Moon’s July offering. And by “essentials,” we mean comedy hip-hop songs and historical monologues. It’s Lost Moon Radio: The Solo Show.

Join Lauren Flans (star of MTV2’s Wild ‘N Out) and Frank Smith (regular viewer of MTV2’s Wild ‘N Out) for an evening of raps you won’t forget and monologues you also won’t forget. Accompanied by three of Lost Moon Radio’s talented musicians. Plus: performance by two-man improv team Squidge! Hosted by Lost Moon Radio regular Galloway Allbright.

You can see the spectacular Silver Lake Chorus (featuring Lost Moon Radio’s Michael Wells) in a FREE SHOW this coming Monday night.  The group will be bringing its symphonic blend of joymongering to the Silverlake Lounge, 2906 W Sunset Blvd., and starting the set at 8pm, to be followed by some other great bands.  Maybe grab a café con leche or guava empanada next door at Cafe Tropical beforehand.  That place is delicious.

SIDE OF THE STORY, the indie folk duo featuring Mason Flink and (LMR stage manager and vocalist-secret-weapon) Gianna Masi is performing tomorrow night at Bar Lubitsch. You’ll recall that last year when we shared a bill with them, they performed a pretty extraordinary set of folk covers of pop hits all dedicated to the life of probably gay U.S. President James Buchanan. Now they’re back with a new slate of material they’re dubbing “CH. 2 : ALL ABOUT ANNE,” dedicated to Puritan iconoclast Anne Hutchinson.

Today’s LA Weekly says “GO” to ROGER WODEHOUSE’S ANDROGYMNASIUM, calling it a “spoof children’s TV program that you can only pray no child ever sees” and “a show that flawlessly walks the funny/offensive line. Better yet, you’ll be so busy laughing that you’ll hardly notice that the show is knitting in hot-topic social issues of sexuality.” They also give a shout-out to the show’s frequent partial nudity, which we appreciate.

You can read the full review on p.48 of the current issue, or find it online here (just scroll down to the photo of Roger). And of course, you can get tickets to our 3 remaining performances, this weekend and next, here: http://ow.ly/lFAoX
